Many issues that gynecology encompass include menstruation, menopause, hormonal issues, infertility, birth control and infectious diseases.

Gynecology is an important part of health care for women. Routine gynecological care can help prevent illness and discomfort, lead to early detection of cancers, make pregnancy and childbirth easier, and detect infections and other conditions before they cause serious damage.

Well-Child Check-Ups

Well child exams are important for monitoring your child’s health, growth, and development. Your baby’s first exam will occur immediately following birth. Thereafter, we will schedule check-ups every few months. During the visit, we’ll record your child’s weight, height and the size of his head. Our doctor will perform a thorough physical exam and check to ensure your child is meeting the normal developmental milestones. Children with specific medical conditions, such as diabetes or asthma, or other chronic illnesses, may need to be seen more frequently. Well child exams are also a good opportunity for you to ask the pediatrician any questions you have. Please contact our office for a well-child exam schedule.

Occupational Medicine

We proudly offer comprehensive care for work-related injuries and illnesses. There are laws that protect workers as they perform their job. If you or a loved one are injured or become ill at work, you may qualify for financial support for your medical expenses. We will work with each patient individually to properly diagnose the problem, develop a personalized treatment plan and rehabilitation program, as well as accurately complete workers’ compensation reports for your employer. Contact us to schedule an appointment if you or a loved one has suffered from a work-related injury or illness.

Physical Exams

We recommend adults have a routine physical exam each year to screen for diseases, determine the risks of possible future medical problems, update vaccinations and promote a healthy lifestyle. The majority of patients only seek medical attention if he/she is ill. By maintaining a relationship with your doctor, even when you are well, will allow us to recognize potential problems, like high blood pressure, early and treat them before they become more serious. During this exam, your physician will discuss your family history and medical history, as well as thoroughly examine the following for any abnormal signs/symptoms that may indicate an impending medical issue.

Bone Density

Bone Density Tests are integral in diagnosing or determining the potential development of, osteoporosis. While there are many kinds of bone density tests, all of them are fast (the entire process is usually finished within 15 to 20 minutes) and completely painless. Bone Density Test results are usually returned as a series of numbers, a T-Score and a Z-Score. The T-Score will tell you how dense your bones are compared to an average healthy female in their 20’s, when bone density is usually the strongest. The Z-Score will tell you the density of your bones compared to the average density of women in your age group. A score of greater than zero means your bones are denser than the compared group, a score of zero means they are equally dense, and a score of less than zero indicates that your bones are less dense than the average of the compared group.

Stress Testing

A Stress Test (sometimes called an exercise electrocardiogram) measures the heart’s response to an increased demand for oxygen. The patient is placed on either a treadmill or exercise bicycle. Slowly, the incline of the treadmill or the resistance of the bicycle is increased, resulting in an increased workload for the heart. The patient’s heart rate, blood pressure, and heart rhythm are continuously monitored during the test. An electrocardiogram obtained throughout the test. The physician evaluates your heart’s function in response to physical stress.

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy, also called cryosurgery, is a minimally invasive treatment that uses extreme cold to freeze and destroy diseased tissue, including cancer cells. In cryotherapy, liquid nitrogen or argon gas is applied to the diseased cells. Cryotherapy is used to treat skin tumors, pre-cancerous skin moles, nodules, skin tags, warts, and unsightly freckles.

Electrocardiograms (EKG’s)

An electrocardiogram, also known as an EKG, is a non-invasive and very simple test used to measure the heart’s electrical activity. An EKG allows your physician to determine if your heart is beating at a normal or slow, fast or irregular pace. The test also allows us to recognize any part of the heart that may be overworked or too large.

An EKG is a quick and simple procedure. First, we will apply small, sticky electrodes to your chest, arms and legs. Small wires are then used to connect the electrodes to the EKG machine, which will record your heart’s electrical activity. Other than possible mild irritation from removing the electrodes, there is no pain associated with this test.
